Try the Water First

Our in-store refill station serves ultra purified water from $0.75 per gallon, so you can taste purified water before installing a system.

What Is Reverse Osmosis?

Reverse osmosis (RO) is one of the most thorough ways to purify drinking water at home. Water is pushed through a semi-permeable membrane with pores small enough to let water molecules through while holding back dissolved solids, metals, and many chemical contaminants. What the membrane rejects is flushed to the drain, and the purified water is stored for use at your tap.

Our RO systems remove up to 99% of dissolved contaminants, including lead, arsenic, fluoride, chlorine, and nitrates.

Most families start with under-sink RO, which covers the water you drink and cook with. Whole-home RO is part of our Elite whole home filtration system. It also addresses PFAS, pharmaceutical residues, microplastics, and uranium, then remineralizes the water so it tastes good and stays stable in your plumbing.

Why Pair RO With Softening

An RO membrane works best when it isn’t fighting hard water. Salt Lake County water is very hard. Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District water usually measures 10 to 12 grains per gallon (Herriman City water quality). Hardness minerals shorten membrane life, and an under-sink system only treats one faucet. That’s why our systems pair RO with water softening or salt-free conditioning and carbon filtration.

FAQ

Common Questions Answered

What does a reverse osmosis system remove?

Our reverse osmosis systems remove up to 99% of dissolved contaminants, including lead, arsenic, fluoride, chlorine, and nitrates. RO pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane with extremely small pores. Water molecules pass through, while dissolved solids, metals, salts, and many chemical contaminants are held back and flushed down the drain. Pre-filters in the system also capture sediment and chlorine to protect the membrane. The result is purified water with very low total dissolved solids. Our Elite whole-home RO also addresses PFAS, pharmaceutical residues, microplastics, and uranium, then remineralizes the water for taste and pH balance.

Should I get under-sink RO or whole-home RO?

Under-sink RO is the right fit for most homes. It purifies the water at your kitchen tap, where you drink and cook, and it is included with our Essentials and Enhanced whole home tiers. Whole-home RO purifies the water going to every tap, shower, and appliance, then adds minerals back with remineralization. It is part of our Elite tier and makes sense for families with known contamination concerns or who want the highest level of purification everywhere in the house. A free water test shows which one your water calls for.

Does reverse osmosis remove minerals from water?

Yes. Reverse osmosis removes most dissolved minerals along with contaminants, which is why RO water tastes very clean and neutral. Our whole-home RO systems add a remineralization stage that restores calcium and balances pH after purification, improving taste and stability for everyday use. If you prefer mineral or alkaline drinking water, you can also fill up with those options at our in-store refill station.

Do I still need a water softener if I have reverse osmosis?

Usually, yes. An under-sink RO system only treats the water at one faucet, so the rest of your home still gets hard water that builds scale in your water heater, appliances, and fixtures. Hard water also shortens the life of an RO membrane. That is why our whole home systems pair water conditioning (a softener or salt-free TAC) with carbon filtration and RO drinking water.

How much does a reverse osmosis system cost?

Cost depends on whether you choose under-sink or whole-home RO and on your water quality. Under-sink RO is included with our Essentials and Enhanced whole home tiers, and whole-home RO is part of our Elite tier. We give you a custom quote after a free in-home water test, with no obligation.
